Joining the Council house exchange community

We suggest that if you are choosing to become a member of the exchange community that you have regular internet access. Finding your exchange does take lots of hard work and it's best to visit the site regular and try to be active in our many forums. Lots of new users are shy at first but you will find this is a very friendly and welcoming community who also discuss many other topics when you need a break from the search for that house. Sign up and post your own property in our approvals forum and then introduce yourself. We have a forum for that too and it certainly helps you along. Visit often and you can check your messages and reply to as many exchanges in any of the counties with a property that me be suitable for you.

Register online for a Free Membership

Our major requirement is that you enter a valid and accurate email address into the registration form. You will Not gain access to list your exchange or reply to any other exchanges until you have received an automatic email and clicked the validation link. A valid email address also lets the Admin Team and other members contact you via the secure Email form available in the forums. It also enables you to subscribe to your exchange forum topics and receive notification via email of any replies.

A list of information that you can have ready for joining is as follows:-

1. User Name - Most choose a nickname or something that reflects your personality or exchange cirumstances.
2. Password - The best passwords are a combination of text and numbers. Try to pick one that's easy to remember or make a note somewhere at home.
3. Email Address - Covered in detail above. Check it now and make sure it is correct before you Register.
4. Number of Bedrooms
5. Town or City - Location of your property
6. County - Your location and also the forum where you will list your exchange
7. Post Code - Just the first half required.

If you know all the required information you can proceed to create a free forum account.

Register by Post

We can accept registrations to be an exchange community member by post. Unfortunately accounts registered by this method have to be paid premier accounts because of the administration. Your options for this method will be premier membership at our current prices of £10.00 for 6 months and £15.00 for one year. If you use this method we will personally notify you once your payment is cleared and we have created your account.

This service is ideal for those that do not want to use online payments or do not have the use of a debit or credit card. If you have tried to register online and are having problems this can also be an easy alternative. You will still need to be an active community member and using the forums to find your exchange. We will accept a cheque but a postal order is preferred.

How to purchase upgraded accounts

You must first have registered a Free Account to purchase an upgrade.

To upgrade your Premier account you will need to enter your Free Account user name, password and email address exactly.

When filling out the upgrade form do not use the check if unique link. You will get an error because your free account will be in the system. It is so important that you enter your exact free account details or your account will NOT upgrade to premier.

We accept all major credit and debit cards using secure payment services via paypal or nochex, you do not need an account with them to pay. We do not store any of your personal payment details.

Don't worry if you do not use credit or debit cards from your bank. You can if you want to sign up for pre-payment cards. These cards are topped up in post offices or shops with paypoint. These cards are very safe to use and you can control how much money the card is ever likely to hold. A lot of people even use these cards for childrens pocket money so they do not need to carry cash.
